July 4th
We didn't tell many people that we were headed to the beach this past week, so a lot of my friends were surprised when I posted some pictures on Instagram with the sun shining. Why? Because back home it was pouring rain. And it continued to do that off and on all day.
Our first patriotic event was to see the island parade.
The weather was perfect on the 4th! Temps were in the 80's, but not miserable. With the combination of the shade and the ocean winds, we were quite comfortable!
(Walking back to our car on the mainland was another story, though!)
The baby and I went back to the condo to take a nap while the big kids went with Brian to the North Causeway to see the military fly-over salute.
When the baby woke up, I took some pictures of her in her cute little outfit. I *almost* bought her a $30 skirt from Gymboree until Jaina made me come to my senses. "Mom, she'd only wear it ONE day. $30 is a lot to spend on just ONE day!" So, her shirt was on clearance from Kohl's last year and her skirt came from Wal-Mart.
Then it was time to head over to Litchfield Beach where my friend from college was staying with her family.
We played Blokus. I accidentally cheated. I was trying to keep an eye on the baby so I managed to go three extra times by the end. Whoops!
Jocelyn occupied her self on the porch by stealing our pieces and hanging out on the porch swing.
My friend's baby was all smiles for me later in the evening :)
We said good bye to our beach friends and then headed to Georgetown to see the fireworks. We had so much fun visiting with our friends that we were a little late to the fire works show.

Over all, it was a great way to spend the 4th of July!
Looks like you guys had a blast - such adorable pictures!
ReplyDeleteGlad y'all had fun! I'm cracking up about the skirt. What a responsible little lady! And Jocelyn is TOO cute! :) Love these shots.
